Mechano growth factor (MGF) is the name given to an IGF-1 splice variant (IGF-1Ec in humans) whose unique C-terminal E-domain peptide has been studied in muscle-cell research. PEG-MGF is a synthetic version of that E-peptide conjugated to polyethylene glycol.

Why PEGylate?
Attaching polyethylene glycol increases hydrodynamic size and shields a peptide from proteolysis, extending its stability in biological media. PEG-MGF is used to study how PEGylation changes peptide behavior compared with the free E-peptide.

Purity Testing and Storage
Every lot of PEG-MGF supplied by Cleared Peptides is tested by an independent laboratory for identity and purity (or composition, for multi-component preparations), and the lot Certificate of Analysis is published on our COA page. Store lyophilized PEG-MGF at −20 °C, sealed, dry and protected from light. Allow the vial to reach room temperature before opening and minimize freeze–thaw cycles. Handle according to your institution’s chemical-hygiene procedures.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is MGF the same as IGF-1?
No. MGF refers to an IGF-1 splice variant; the research peptide corresponds to its unique E-domain rather than mature IGF-1.
Is PEG-MGF for human use?
No. Cleared Peptides supplies PEG-MGF for laboratory research use only; it is not for human or veterinary use.
